Determination of weed species their observation frequencies and densities in wheat fields in Isparta province of Turkey

Summary

The study was carried out to determine the weed species in wheat fields in Isparta province of Turkey in 2001. Observations were done in 114 wheat fields located in five different sub-regions. Weed species found in a 1 m² frame thrown 4 times in 1 da area were identified and counted in order to determine the density, frequency and ground covers of weeds.

As a result of the survey in wheat fields, a total of 166 weed taxa belonging to 24 different families were identified. These included 1 cryptogame, 2 monocotyledoneous and 21 dicotyledoneous species. Among the weed species recorded Secale cereale L. was defined as the most common species with a frequency of 86.84 % , followed by Convolvulus arvensis L. and Centaurea depressa Bieb. with a frequency of 77.19 %  and 56.14 %  respectively.

ÖZET

Çalışma Isparta ili buğday ekim alanlarındaki yabancı otların, rastlama sıklıklarının, yoğunluklarının ve kaplama alanlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla 2001 yılında yürütülmüştür. Isparta ili 5 bölgeye ayrılarak toplam 114 buğday ekim alanında survey yapılmıştır. Her tarlada o tarlayı temsil edecek şekilde seçilen 1 dekarlık alan içerisinde 4 kez 1 m²’lik çember kullanılarak yabancı otlar sayılmış, m² deki yoğunlukları, kaplama alanları ve rastlama sıklıkları belirlenmiştir.

Çalışma sonucunda Isparta ili buğday ekim alanlarında 1 tohumsuz, 2 tek çenekli (monokotiledon) ve 21 çift çenekli (dikotiledon) olmak üzere 24 familyaya ait 159’u tür, 7’si cins düzeyinde toplam 166 yabancı ot taksonu saptanmıştır. Bu türlerden Secale cereale L. % 86.84’lük rastlama sıklığı ile en çok rastlanan yabancı ot türü olurken, % 77.19 rastalama sıklığı ile Convolvulus arvensis L. 2. ve % 56.14 rastalama sıklığı ile Centaurea depressa Bieb. 3. sırada yer almıştır.
